Welcome to StockTwit’s Die Broke Blog!

IRON100

Hi everyone!

Welcome aboard what I hope will be an enormous collaboration on StockTwits to create their personal finance blog known as Die Broke Blog.

The purpose of this blog is to have the StockTwits community contribute their knowledge base on the subject of personal finance and to present a relevant discussion on topics that will be helpful to others in the community.

I was, quite frankly, a bit surprised when Phil Pearlman offered me the chance to be editor of this blog. I really like the realm of personal finance, since I was tossed headlong into it in college when my father was stricken with cancer. What was at first a trial by fire became a lifelong learning adventure. I enjoy the study of how people use, save, borrow, invest, and trade their money.

I think, as Howard Lindzon, Phil Pearlman, and Soren Macbeth do, that this blog can be a medium that can impart useful information. Topics will include but not be limited to:

1) How to invest for college.

2) How to improve credit scores.

3) How to diversify investments across time and asset classes.

4) How to minimize investment risk to improve returns.

5) How to do estate planning (a big issue now that 2010 approaches and the Bush Administration Estate Tax Rules come to an end).

6) How to buy a car.

7) How to manage your tax burden (to avoid and NOT EVADE taxes).

8) How to set up a trading business according to IRS rules and state laws.

9) How to properly make alternative investments (land, MLPs, real estate, etc).

10) How to teach your kids about saving, investing, retirement planning, microeconomics and macroeconomics.

We need talented writers who have an interest in personal finance topics to contribute.

We want good content from people of all walks of life, ages, educational backgrounds, and career paths. This is already a wide open community that shares its ideas with each other so the extension seems natural.

If you want to contribute, leave a comment below or send me an e-mail at buffalotrader100 at gmail dot com.

Once again, welcome aboard. I think this blog can make a huge positive impact on the StockTwits community and potentially the the broader blogosphere.

I look forward to your e-mails, and to making the Die Broke Blog a big success!

Take care,

David Buffalo (IRON100)
